Parma Hotel Ponte • Reggia di Colorno
An architectural complex and monumental structure built at the beginning of the 18th century by Duke Francesco Farnese on the ruins of the Fortress of Colorno.
With over 400 halls, courts and courtyards, surrounded by the Parma stream, the piazza and the marvellous recently restored French garden, the Palace of Colorno was occupied by the Sanseverino, Farnese and Borbone families, and by Maria Luigia of Austria.
The neoclassical Chapel of San Liborio is the largest private chapel in Italy.
Inside the palace, which today hosts numerous temporary exhibitions and cultural events, there is an important astronomical observatory.
